Supplier reviews too often rely on whoever spoke to the buyer most recently. A defensible supplier scorecard needs at minimum: on-time-in-full delivery rate, fill rate, return and quality incident rate, on-shelf availability contribution, margin and promotional participation, and payment service consistency.
The scorecard only earns credibility if it is calculated the same way every period and shared transparently with suppliers, not held privately. Suppliers who understand exactly how they are measured tend to improve fastest.
Used well, a supplier scorecard shifts negotiation conversations from price alone to a fuller picture of total value delivered.
